Today, a good education is more important than ever before. We live in a society in which knowledge and the application of knowledge determine our performance and enable us to participate in society. The educational advancement of young people must not be allowed to fail because of financial hurdles or because educational opportunities are not seized due to a lack of information.

With the aim of ensuring that young Sinti and Roma are also able to study, the Central Council and the Documentation Center held talks with the German National Academic Foundation in September 2012 about future funding and financial support for members of the minority.

Against this background, the Documentation Center offers an annual platform for the exchange of information. Representatives of scholarship-granting foundations are invited to present their institutions and talk to participants about the possibilities and opportunities they offer. Lectures on the topic and experience reports broaden the information base.

The educational meeting is aimed at all members of the minority who would like to learn more about their opportunities in education, study at university, music or technical college, as well as all institutions that advocate for the educational advancement of Sinti and Roma youth.

From the above-mentioned discussions with the German National Academic Foundation in 2012, the Documentation Center has been granted the right to propose 10 applicants from the minority per year. We talk to the applicants in order to be able to recommend them to the foundation for a scholarship or to make alternative funding proposals.
