Virtual Panel discussion: „We Share the Same Sky“

Datum

The virtual panel discussion entitled „We Share the Same Sky“, like the film festival it accompanies, focuses on films that highlight the unspeakable suffering of Roma and Sinti communities.

In the past, films about Roma were frequently staged and designed to appeal to the Western imagination. This representation is still dominant. Since the 1980s Romani directors began to play an active role in defining the Genocide of European Roma and Sinti, a period of European history that had been relegated to silence.

Intervention by Romani authors or film directors into this biased representation can therefore be understood as counter culture.
